Western Sydney Academy deliver holistic development programs for pre-elite level athletes, across a range of sports with the endorsement of, and in collaboration with, the relevant State Sporting Organisation.

Regional Academies are endorsed by the AIS, NSWIS, NSW Government and SSOs – as reflected in the official athlete development pathway FTEM for NSW Office of Sport.

Our programs are founded on three primary development platforms – technical, educational, and personal with a strong focus on standards of excellence, knowledge and skills.

We have previously conducted an endorsed HNSW Pathway program under a differing state pathway structure.

We are excited to partner again with HNSW to re-establish a program that now meets emerging elite standards for talented local juniors in Western Sydney under the new pathway structure.     

We are now seeking interest in our region by way of open nomination for Program Staff and talented local junior Athletes meeting the ‘athlete nomination criteria” below to apply for selection into the HNSW - WSAS 2024-25 Hockey program.

ATHLETE NOMINATION CRITEREA

1.      Two age groups, U/16 & 18-year-olds

2.      Athletes will be selected into a program via two ways:

1.      Invitation via Hockey NSW talent identification staff

2.      A nominations & trials basis in each region overseen by the RAS

3.      Selection is based on the Academy’s defined NSW regions, athletes must reside and/or go to school in LGA of Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Fairfield, Hawkesbury, Paramatta, Penrith, Hills Shire

With residential being the primary selection criteria.

4.      All athletes must be a registered primary member of a Hockey NSW affiliated Association.

5.      Athletes can only be a scholarship holder in one Academy annually.
